The park was created 5 years ago by public initiative and the unanimous decision of the City Council of Paros for the sole purpose of the environmental protection of the peninsula of Ai Yiannis Detis in the NW part of the bay of Naousa with sustainable methods of management and actions related to the environment, culture promotion and exchange, recreation and athletic activities of a benign nature. It consists of 80 hectares of protected natural environment where cars and other vehicles are strictly prohibited as is hunting, fishing and camping.
The Park is also an ideal opportunity for the visitor to become introduced and come into contact with a wild and authentic Cycladic natural landscape. At no more than 10 minutes away by car (20 minutes by boat) from the cosmopolitan and touristy center of Naousa, the Paros Park is an unanticipated oasis amongst unique rock formations that have been chiseled by the north wind, caves, hidden coves, colorful wildflowers and sandy beaches. All together it is an ideal environment for water sports, mild exercise, naturalist and ecological activities twelve months of the year.
