Damien Girs had his first piano lessons at the age of 6, developing thus a passion for music. After his studies at the Royal Academy “César Franck” of Visé in Belgium with Philippe Lehaen and François Cerny, he was admitted -in the age of 15- at the Royal Conservatory of Liège, in the class of the famous pianist and conductor Jo Alfidi. Parallel to his musical studies, he pursued studies is Optic/Optometry and French Philology.
He then pursued superior musical studies in the class of Jean Schils, obtaining the title of Specialized Master in Piano, followed by a second postgraduate title as Specialized Master in Accompaniment, in the class of Jean-Pierre Moemaers. On stage, Damien Girs accompanies soloists as well as musical ensembles, exploring a broad repertoire, ranging from classical to jazz and from early to contemporary music.
Also, he works as a Professor of Piano and exclusive accompanist of the Royal Academy “César Franck” of Visé and the Musical Academy of Malmedy. Since 2014, he collaborates with the soprano Mária Devitzaki, with whom he performs regularly throughout Europe.
