Born in Thessaloniki, Greece, soprano Mária Devitzaki began her musical studies at the Municipal Conservatory of Nea Moudania, where she received a Diploma in Harmony with Excellency. In 2010, she completed with Excellency her studies at the University of Macedonia, in the Department of Music Science and Art with a specialization in Voice, while also studying

lyrical singing at the New Conservatory of Thessaloniki. Parallel to her studies, she participated in numerous musicotheatrical performances as a soloist in Greece; Notably, she held the main role in the operette “O Vaftistikos” of Theophrastus Sakellarides at Thessaloniki “Megaron” Concert Hall and in the Premiere in N.Greece of Nikos Skalkottas’ fairy drama, “May Spell”.

In 2012, she made her German debut in Neuköllner Oper in Berlin, in the very successful opera “Yasou Aida!”, with more than 30 performances in Berlin, Thessaloniki (Megaron Concert Hall) and Athens (Athens and Epidaurus Festival). Right after, she appeared in Detlev Glanert’s Chamber Opera “Drei Wasserspiele” at Stadttheater Fürth in Germany (2012) and at Teatro Poliziano di Montepulciano in Italy(2013).

As a concert artist she appeared in many European concert venues in personal recitals, as well as in sacred music and chamber music concerts.

She has participated in masterclasses with world acclaimed professors such as Tamara Novichenko, Cheryl Studer and Kurt Equiluz and in festivals; among others in 38th Cantiere Intenazionale d’Arte di Montepulciano 2013 and in AXIA International Festival 2010, where she had the honour to work on stage with the renowned pianist, Ray Luck.

As a music-pedagogue, she has taught the class of Harmony, Singing, Choral Singing and History of Music at the Municipal Conservatory of Nea Moudania and has been involved in musicopedagogical performances, namely in the musicopedagogical programme of Thessaloniki Concert Hall “The Strings tell stories”. In 2013, she collaborated with “Theatro Technis” London as the Vocal Coach of the ensemble of the Theatre.

Presently, Ms. Devitzaki is pursuing a Master’s Degree in Singing in Belgium, at the Institut Supérieur de Musique et de Pédagogie and performing in collaboration with her pianist, Damien Girs.
